Quick Tips for Beginning the New Year- Feng Shui Style!

I’m veering off path on this blog from the Five Elements of Feng Shui to discuss prepping your home for the New Year!  I know it is sometimes easier said than done but organizing is essential to get your life and home ready for the new year.  Are you are feeling out of sorts, cranky?  Has 2012 not been the best year for you? Are you hoping 2013 will be better? Clutter does not bode well for good chi in your home.  Here are a few tips to get you started on your journey into this fabulous New Year 2013!

Organizing or decluttering  is one of the easiest ways to get rid of that stagnant chi and bring in a new flow of energy into your home & cost nothing but 30 minutes of your time. To begin with find three boxes and label them as Keep, Discard & Donate.

Don’t be overwhelmed, just pick a room that is in disarray.  How does your living room look? Are there old newspapers, unpaid bills, dead plants, dirty ashtrays cluttering your living room? Is that what your visitors see when they come to sit?  The trash – the above and anything else that might be broken, bent or completely unusable] goes straight to the Discard box and out the door! If there are objects that are in good shape – just not right for this particular room or spot but are in good condition…then that goes to the Keep box. If after you have completed your sorting and cleaning & there is not a place for that item, then look at it again. Is it suitable for the Donate box?   I am a firm believer in the saying that ‘One man’s clutter is another’s treasure’.

Sit back and take a look at what you have accomplished in the last thirty minutes.  I know you will definitely feel a sense of accomplishment when you are done.  If your surroundings are calm, your life will be calm and the good energy will soar!  If you need some push to get started, many home stagers specialize Organization and are more than happy to give you a helping hand! Good luck!!
