Does Your Front Door Show Your Personal Style?

What do you think of when you come home to your front door? Do you get a big grin on your face just because the color makes you happy or are you frowning because it just is so blah? Face it, it has been a hot summer and the plants/flowers are looking pretty sad but curb appeal is still so important whether you are staging to sell your home or just want to spruce up your castle!  For me, I’ve decided to just clean out the flower garden & brightening the mulch til springtime. BUT, the front door is another matter.

We had been thinking about painting the door for quite some time. Don’t get me wrong the Asparagus green that we have looked at for the last few years was still beautiful but we were ready for a change! Prior asparagus the door had been a dark burgundy – before that dark red – before that the boring color the builders painted when we had our house built back almost 14 years! Again I will say, for those of you who do not know me, I love color! Back to my front door color. We have seriously been on the hunt for the right color!

A month or so ago my copy of Sherwin Williams “Stir” arrived in the mail. I opened it up and there was the color. The Big Guy and I both immediately said ‘yep’ that is the color. While I was out staging one day, he took the door down, sanded & had it painted by time I got home that evening. What do you think? We absolutely love it and it pops from the street! In the past when we would explain which house was ours in the neighborhood, we always said look for the bright green door – now it is the bold blue door. Sherwin Williams # 6496 Oceanside!

There is no one color for your door. It really depends on your brick or siding color & your personal preference. For a classic look black is always on point! But if you like color, be brave, jump out there and go for it.  In our neighborhood there are no restrictions on door colors so the sky really is the limit!  Bottom line, make your door your own!

We will visit this issue again I am sure! In the meantime, what do you think of these?
